CULTURAL SHOCK

INTRODUCCTION

 

English speakers around the world are a huge group of different cultural, linguistic and pragmatic differences. Thus, students must know that behind a language we have a culture which gives us a great quantity of values, ideas and principles that can cause many cultural shocks. Then, this blog is going to develop a communicative perspective trying to include some linguistic issues. 

 

ACTIVITY 1

 

  1. Look in the map bellow and select two country.
  2. Look for inhabitants´ customs and daily routines.
  3. Figure out the similarities with American culture.
  4. Figure out their typical clothes as well as new fashion in that country.
  5. Make a drawing of a person applying all what you learn form that culture.
  6. Listen the song “Imagine” complete the lyrics (Annex a) and give your personal opinion about how culture could be tolerant with other cultures.

  1. Look for some words in the following alphabet soup.

  1. Create some concepts using those words.
  2. Talk with a partner about the video “Cultural shock of a amazon student” and try to think about how you would feel in another country trying to explore and show your culture.

Ik ben Andries zijn domme kutvriend en ik ben een pleuris kut kankerjong dat namen en mailadressen misbruikt van andere mensen! Ik ben hersendood want er zit alleen maar zaagsel in die domme kut kankerkop van me omdat de rest al is weggerot door kanker! Ik lijdt aan breinrot en daarom ben ik een tyfus kankermongool dat alleen maar mensen boos kan maken! Daarom pest ik graag ANDRIES IS GESTOORD en Andries Jellema hater want ik ben een kind zonder ballen verscholen achter een computerscherm! Ik ben een grote lafaard en durf mij zelf niet bekend te maken! Ik haal van die domme kut kankerpersonages online en doe alsof die allemaal bestaan! Allemaal verzinsels van mij uit mijn 12 jarig breintje! Ik ben een vieze vuile bloedzuiger dat dagelijks gastenboeken opzoekt en ze probeert over te nemen en eigenaars nadoet die zogenaamd hun gastenboek weg geven zodat ik heus wel berichten mag schrijven! Ik ben een lafbek en heb geen vrienden! Ik kom aandacht te kort en daarom pest ik graag allerlei mensen omdat ik ziek in mijn harsens ben! Ik wil graag gepest worden door ANDRIES IS GESTOORD en Andries Jellema hater want ik blijf doorgaan dus daarom gaan hun ook door! Dat begrijp ik best hoor want ik ben een zielig kut kankerjong zonder leven! Ik heb ook geen naam en ik besta geeneens want ik durf mij zelf niet bekend te maken!
