Week 7: Culture Shock

Think of what in your target country's culture would cause you to experience culture shock.

I honestly don't think that there's much from my target country that would give me culture shock because I am half Colombian so therefore I am aware of a lot of the customs, traditions, and lifestyle there.
If anything what would probably have me experience culture shock is the fact that in Colombia not every thing is as up to date as it is in the U.S. Although technology has been advancing throughout the years, there are still places in Colombia where you can only shower with cold water and in poorer regions you may still have to use a bucket to shower.
Something else that would probably cause me to experience culture shock is the fact that in Colombian male and female roles are more traditional. Women over there are expected to do all the cooking, cleaning, and other chores while men work. I am the type of person that doesn't mind cooking and cleaning but I also like to work and in Colombia men are usually the breadwinners in the family while women stay at home. I feel like in Colombia male and female roles are definitely not equal and that is something that would be difficult for me to get used to if I were over there.
